Definitely. According to MONEY Magazine an investment in landscaping has a potential to return 100% - 200% when a home is sold. Add to that the joy of Colorado outdoor living experience and having a garden that extends your interior living space to your outdoor environment and you'll recognize immediately that partnering with Outdoor Craftsmen is a worthy investment.
How much should I spend? How do I figure out how much to spend?
Some experts suggest spending between 15%-20% of the home’s value on landscaping – an investment that brings both value and long-term satisfaction to your life. If you're unsure, you can always schedule a consultation with one of our landscaping contractors to get a better idea of what it will take to see your vision become a reality.

It also is a good idea to drive around your neighborhood and take photos of yards you like. Do I need permits and/or approval from my homeowners’ association to landscape?
Depending in what work you have done you may need a permit that we can obtain for you. And we will give what you need to submit to your HOA for approval.
How do I get started?
How do you landscape in an environmentally correct manner?
Our landscape contractors take into consideration the type of soil, sun, shade, views, and water usage on each property. This allows us to best locate outdoor living spaces and choose plants suitable for your particular area so that you can spend more time enjoying your garden than having to maintain it and achieve environmental-friendliness as well.
What is xeriscape?
To xeriscape not only means to use plants which have low water requirements. It has 7 fundamental principles. These include:
- A well thought out plan/design
- Good soil improvements
- A practical turf footprint
- Drought tolerant plant species
- A hydro zoned irrigation system
- Good mulch practices
- Appropriate maintenance
This practice suggests including many native species, whose flowers are both colorful and vibrant and perfectly suited to our high-altitude, more arid climate.
What is a plot plan? Where do I find it? Do I need to measure?
The plot plan is a diagram of your lot and how your house and other structures sit on your lot. You probably received one when you closed on your house, or you can get one from your city or county offices. Or our team can also create a plot plan and do any measuring that needs to be done. It is also included in a plan set for architectural house plans when available.
Can I landscape in phases?
Definitely, we are happy to develop a plan that you can do in phases in order to that suit your needs. We strive for a pleasant, stress-free process for you and sometimes working in phases feels best to our clients.
