Some good news for the near future comes from Outdoor Craftsmen, who are keeping us abreast of landscape and gardening trends for this coming growing season.
Outdoor Craftsmen is open for business and continues to spread their landscape magic throughout the properties of homeowners despite the coronavirus. For questions about the specifics of how we are working to serve new and existing customers, we’ve created this FAQs page.
Our trends list is topped by homeowners’ desire to be eco-conscious and sustainable.
We’re well-versed in designing and implementing landscapes and gardens that are planet-and-specific-environment friendly, opting to use native plant materials and water-wise systems in every design. This has always been a win-win formula for us because it saves our clients time and effort in their outdoor areas and is smart from a resources-usage and low-maintenance perspective.
Outdoor Craftsmen doesn’t advocate unnecessary use of any resource in the landscape, which comes directly from our philosophy of consciously inviting nature in all its forms into our lives.
When sprinklers don’t water building sides, it saves water, annoying early wake up calls (and building sides).
When xeric and native plant species are selected, they provide sound, movement, and a place for entire natural ecosystems to grow and thrive. Birds especially will be attracted into your environment to provide hours of entertainment, joyous singing, and nesting activities.
Other top trends include:
Re-wilding gardens – encourages beneficial insects and a return to a more natural garden. This is requires less pesticides and chemicals use in the land, which also saves on plastics and carbon emissions from supply chain transportation and distribution. Let things go” a little, and you’ll discover wildflowers you didn’t know you could grow, and the ‘wilder’ areas of your yard may make you feel grounded, alive, and renewed.
Plants for Wildlife – most contemporary landscapes lack diversity. Outdoor Craftsmen intentionally chooses a variety of plants that complement one another, have varying heights, colors, and textures, and flower and fruit to provide a home for all the critters who need one.
Dark Foliage – plants with deep reds, purples, or ‘black’ leaves are a striking addition to any landscape. We use these in areas of the environment where we want to attract attention, provide a strong contrast background, and certainly in pots and containers as focal points.
Dwarf trees and shrubs – those with smaller spaces to plan in are enjoying dwarf varieties of their favorite plants. Dwarf varieties serve multiple purposes, including not blocking views from the home, depth of field from the street (you can see ‘them’ but they can’t see you!), and require less pruning and overall maintenance. We carefully select dwarf plantings that will look great especially when fully grown and have a beautiful growing habit so they are attractive throughout the seasons and the years.
The team at Outdoor Craftsmen is excited about the upcoming season and will continue to provide all our clients with the excellent design and customer service you deserve. We have made it through many challenges in the past and will continue to do our part to help keep our community safe and healthy while keeping to our mission of growing spectacularly inspiring outdoor environments for all to enjoy.
