Outdoor Craftsmen was founded in August of 2004. Originally a one man show, as a design and consulting business model, Outdoor Craftsmen’s founder has his roots in fine arts and geology. Years of training in high-end construction, formal English garden design, and four years of working with contemplative Eastern influences with Martin Mosko (a Buddhist monk), the Outdoor Craftsmen signature style became a fusion of the zen [Yen] from the east and structured [Yang] west. We call it Mountain Modern.
Outdoor Craftsmen’s first project received high regard and was awarded best landscape awards from the ALCC. Being recognized for the highest quality and service amongst it peers and related partners, word that Outdoor Craftsmen was open for business was spreading. In 2005 a full business plan was put in place. A 15-year plan of creating a unique Colorado Design Build firm was put into motion. We design, build, and maintain high-end exterior construction projects with an emphasis on creative solutions tailored to each client’s individual aesthetic taste.
With timing, good luck, and the blessing of God, Outdoor Craftsmen hit the ground running. We quickly grew, earned several awards, and won large scale projects, which all acted as a launch pad for expansion. In the fall of 2006, Outdoor Craftsmen moved its operation to its current location at 1503 Hwy 52 in Erie, CO. Outdoor Craftsmen’s growth continued, specializing in development of a niche market in remodeling exterior home facades, structures, and landscape elements. Homeowners desiring artistry in their landscapes recognized Outdoor Craftsmen, which became the one-stop shop for all their needs.
As the business grew the need for more advanced systems and processes grew as well. Working on a new strategic business plan was in full swing as the great recession began to sink in. We made a conscience decision that a downturn didn’t fit our intentions, so we evolved to make best of the economic environment. Our services expanded to truly be of full service for our exclusive clients who appreciate the value of professional quality and service. We are blessed to have a client base that values the quality of our creations and services that we offer. Having that resolve positioned us to maintain a solid foundation as we rebounded to be better than ever with our efficiencies and creative problem solving.
Our proud history of award-winning projects continues to this day with 20-plus ALCC awards and now being recognized at a national level with the Grand Award for Design Build in 2016. The one-man show now employs on average 50 skilled employees throughout the year with more in the high season. Our staff of professionals artists and technicians are top in their field. From licensed landscape architects to horticulturists, stone masons, and accountants we offer a fully range of landscaping skills in house.
"Our wishes and dreams for a backyard that would be harmonious with the house were fulfilled by the Outdoor Craftsmen team! Orchids to Outdoor Craftsmen!"
