Crew Leader / Foreman Responsibilities
Crew leader / Foreman leads and directs the work performed daily by each team member on the job site; making certain that each task is performed per the project manager’s direction in the most practical and efficient manner, and according to Outdoor Craftsmen standards.
CL/F is responsible for insuring that the job site is kept safe and orderly. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Enforcing the use of personal protective equipment including ear, nose, mouth, hand and foot protection
- Daily checking that equipment is in proper working condition
- Daily sites clean up
CL/F is to grease all equipment, and check/replenish fluid levels in all machinery twice weekly (Monday /Wednesday). Report all equipment problems to the fleet manager. Do not operate broken or unsafe tools/machinery/equipment.
CL/F is responsible for the safe keeping and proper handling of tools, tool trailer, and any other equipment checked out to the trailer and job site. All tools and equipment are to be secured at the end of each shift.
Periodic tool trailer inventories will be performed. CL/F is responsible for all lost, missing and/or abused tools. Turn in old, worn-out tools/equipment to the fleet manager for a replacement. Report suspected tool theft immediately.
Report all problems, concerns and accidents to the project manager, including both construction/installation issues and employee issues. All accidents and injuries must be reported immediately.
Disciplinary issues are to be handled by the project manager. CL/F is not authorized to take disciplinary measures unless directed to do so by the project manager.
Timecards are to be turned in Friday afternoons to PM for approval. CL/F assists team members in accurately completing timecards each day.

- CL/F completes the appropriate items and codes
Prepare material orders 2-3 days in advance of need: or one day in advance at a minimum.

- 3+ Years’ experience as a maintenance crew leader

Responsibilities:
- Communication - Inform clients about site logistical considerations, schedules, start/end times, progress and on an ongoing basis throughout the project. Answer any and all questions client has concerning logistics, issues, HOA, neighbors, etc. Communicate all client concerns to the construction team.
- Procure unique specialty materials from vendors.
- Sub-contractors - Meet with to review scope of work, schedule and inspect work of all sub-contractors on job site.
- Schedule and met with inspectors. Close out all inspections.
- Track/Monitor budgeted labor hours and schedule, budgeted materials.
- Billing - Communicate to office staff progress billing percentages, review billing and present invoices to client and collect payment.
- Complete final walk-through with client and fill out final punch list. Coordinate the completion of all punch list items.
- Warranty - Respond to client’s questions concerning warranty issues. Communicate completed warranty work to client.
- Review and approve all time sheets for crews.
- As-builts, watering schedules, controller sheets.
- Training client on Irrigation, Lighting System and any other aspect of the landscape that needs explaining.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years’ experience in the landscape industry
- Effective time management and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize work to meet deadlines
- Friendly and comfortable creating and maintaining relationships with clients, vendors, and crew members of all ages and from all backgrounds (this includes face to face interaction, phone calls, emails, text messages, etc.)
