During the holidays we give extra consideration to those who grace our lives and matter most to us. About their likes and dislikes, things they do, places they go, where and how they live and arrange their environment to suit their needs for comfort, style, and taste.
This leads us to think about our own lifestyles and unique needs for a home and hearth we love. During winter and the associated busyness of the holidays, our outdoor environment might get overlooked (except for twinkling Christmas lights)!
It’s easy to forget how often we look out the windows of our cozy winter abodes to see what the weather is doing, why the sudden wind or change in light, or to recall into our thoughts the colors, sounds, and smells of nature in winter.
Landscapes feed our souls by arranging nature’s best flora into gardens we savor. A landscape designed for all seasons gives us its gifts all year. When we live in constancy with the beauty of nature, we can engage at any time with how our landscape looks, grows, and changes, and provides us wonderful respite from our lives for a moment or two.
What is outside your home is every bit as important as what is in it. Our own personal outdoors – mere steps from our doors – is always there, ready to bring us tidings of comfort and joy.
Make time for what matters most this season, including a quiet appreciation for that place – inside AND out – we call home.
