Outdoor Craftsmen landscape creatives are kept busy year-round designing and implementing fabulous landscape ideas for homeowners. It is imperative where we live that we think in four-season terms, where the property transitions beautifully as the seasons shift.
When done well, a landscape experiences an effortless evolution from one season into the next. The end of winter invites fall-planted bulbs to poke their heads through the ground in Spring, ready to greet the warmer temps and striving to please the homeowner yearning for signs of life after a long, cold winter.
The greens and bright colors of summer slowly fade as the hues of fall perennials and trees come to the fore. We might mimic the color of a beautiful red garden bench with a nearby planting of Japanese Maple, which turns bright red in fall. This is an example of how everything we do is done with intention, one of our most valued cornerstones of design.
Our landscape plans account for every small detail and nuance on a property, melding the obvious with the seemingly random to great, unobtrusive effect. The landscape appears to ebb and flow with the seasons just as we do, changing with the light, dark, hot, cold, wind and calm.
Trees, for example, are chosen for their investment value, visual appeal, and even fun factor. Will it be a stalwart sentinel standing over your gated entrance, or a big branching climber perfect for the kids and grandkids to scramble up and read a book in? Perhaps we will plan dwarf evergreens standing steady in the land, sure not to grow so tall that they block those gorgeous sunrises or sunsets.
When we speak with clients about their vision for their great outdoors, we do so with respect for the land, for the home the landscape surrounds, and with a mindset of including extra detail and care in everything we do to make it elegant and distinctive, always.
