Outdoor pots are one of those must-do home accessories that add incredible value to the look and feel of any property.
The inclusion of plant containers in your landscape is an elegant crowning touch lending visual and structural beauty to your entire outdoor area.
Concrete containers are especially popular, and they work beautifully in all gardens. Concrete provides good insulation for soil and moderates soil temps, but they are heavy. Plant them once on the spot where you want the pot to stay and don’t plan on moving it easily.
Metal containers give off a modern or retro feel depending on how the metal is treated (mint green paint or left rusted?). They get hot so consider heat and water. You will have to water more frequently if the containers are in a sunny spot all day. Depending on all materials used, metal containers can be nice and light and more easily moved around.
Stone pots: these are not your inexpensive terra cotta pots. Stone pots are more elaborate and give the garden a sense of grace and style. The increase in beauty as they age. Frost-proof material for cold regions insulates soil from moisture loss and heat. Stone containers are expensive but expect them to last a lifetime or more.
Custom containers: Outdoor Craftsmen will source and fill any kind of container for you. Please call to speak with one of our designers.
Resin containers: frostproof and lightweight, these start out looking great but don’t age gracefully (best if brought indoors for winter). These can look like a classic stone planter and are great for deck and stairs where lighter is better.
After you’ve decided on the container, you’ll want it filled seasonally with “thrillers, fillers, and spillers” to achieve maximum lushness. Outdoor Craftsmen container designers have many years’ experience crafting stunning potted arrangements, and they know the keys to gorgeous containers are a showstopper color palette, keeping the roots evenly moist (drip systems for pots are highly recommended for best success), and nurturing (our maintenance crews are well-versed in deadheading).
